Hyundai Elantra 2019 (ENG) – Test Drive and Review
Hyundai Elantra is a compact sedan. It represents a segment that pretty much doesn’t exist in Europe. However it is popular in the US and Asia. In 1990 the Elantra replaced among others the Stellar and the Pony. For 20 years Hyundai Elantra was offered as a sedan, estate and hatchback. Later on it was only a sedan and in some markets also a coupe. The hatchback and the estate were later replaced by the i30. Hyundai Elantra remains a niche model in Europe with annual sales around 2000 units. The Elantra is not the same the i30 Fastback, although the cars are similar. Hyundai Elantra looks more mature. It is also slicker with the longer back end. The Elantra also has a more interesting front, in which I find some resemblance to the Ioniq. The I30 Fastback is also based on the i30, which means a new platform, whereas the Elantra is on the old platform. Just the right sort of car for people, who prefer tried and tested products, and don’t want any surprises. Even the engine didn’t change (at least in Europe). It lost a few horses because of emissions regulations, but that’s it.
Starting price: 16 000 euro
As tested: 25 000 euro
